William "Woody" Jesse Davidson

August 4, 1953 – April 20, 2026

William Jesse Davidson, known to everyone as “Woody” (unless he was in trouble or being sold something), age 72, of River Falls, WI, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026. After facing several health challenges in recent years Woody is now at peace.

Woody was born in Salt Lake City, UT, on August 4, 1953, to Jesse and Patricia Davidson. He earned his lifelong nickname at Kearns High School, where he discovered a passion for cheerleading—a talent he carried with him all the way to the University of Utah.

A lifelong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Woody had a strong testimony for his Savior Jesus Christ. It was his two-year mission for the church, to the Northern States that first introduced him to Wisconsin. He fell in love with the area and, following his mission and marriage, chose River Falls as the place to raise his three children: Dugan, Molly, and Spenser.

Woody lived to perform. Whether he was cheering on the sidelines, acting in countless community theater productions at the Phipps Center for the Arts, or even donning a costume as a radio station mascot, he was happiest when he was making people smile. To Woody, everything was a potential joke; the more uncomfortable the situation, the harder he would try to find the humor in it. His family intends to honor that legacy by sharing plenty of jokes and stories in his memory.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Patricia, and his sister, Beckie. He is survived by his children, Dugan (Katie) Davidson, Molly (Bryan) Watson, and Spenser (Crystal) Davidson; his 13 grandchildren; and his sisters, Lorine, Beth, and Laura.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 11:30 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 545 Stage Line Rd, Hudson, WI.
