William R. "Bill" Gavin

About Bill

Bill was born in Fargo, ND on December 12, 1948 to Raymond and Clare Gavin. He was the fifth and youngest child in the family. After graduating from Moorhead State University in 1971 with a degree in the quality assurance field (a branch of engineering), he married his loving wife Mary in Roseville, MN. He leaves behind his wife, his son Jason (Stephanie), granddaughters Ariana and Abigail, as well as a great grandson Ethan.

His younger son Ryan preceded him in death (2015), as well as his four siblings, Dolores, Audrey, Rodney and Margaret.

Bill worked most of his life as a manager in manufacturing in the quality assurance field but also ran a successful personal business, was a mortgage consultant, a property manager and a consultant.

Bill was a dedicated family man and a person of stability. He always looked forward to family time in the woods when his boys were growing up -- 4 wheeling on back country roads, campfires and star gazing at night.

There were many memorable family trips by plane and by car. He also shared many happy state park camping experiences with the family. He was a devoted follower of Christ and looked forward to worship with other believers. Bill served other people in many different capacities and thoroughly enjoyed his camaraderie with other "landscapers" while volunteering for projects at NHLC, both Roseville and Arden Hills sites.

Bill had a fun sense of humor and would keep people laughing with his humorous quips. He relished time in the woods log building with his son Jason and friends while communing with nature.

He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Mary, his family, including many nephews and nieces, and many others.
