William H. Glass
October 13, 1944 – May 6, 2023
life story
He will be greatly missed
William H. Glass, Jr. was born on October 13, 1944 in Irvington, New Jersey to William and Edith (nee Anglehart) Glass. His son and daughter were with him when he passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in Plymouth, MN.
Bill grew up in Chicago, went to high school at Schurz High School, married Beverly in 1965, entered the US Army in 1967, and raised his family in Arlington Heights, IL. Bill worked as an electrician for 43 years. Bill was also a dedicated father and grandfather. He and his daughter were known as Old Man River and Little Babbling Brook in their time in Indian Princesses. Bill coached baseball and softball for his kids and truly enjoyed attending any and all sporting events and concerts for his grandkids. Outside of his love for family, he loved being in the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps in his youth and continued as an alum. Of his many accomplishments in the Corps, he was very proud of his VFW National Championships in 1961, ’62, and ’63. He’d be happy to tell you the Cavaliers were undefeated in 1961. He loved the movie “A Christmas Story,” and was proud of his beloved Leg Lamp. Despite moving to Minnesota in 2018, he was a lifelong Cubs and Blackhawks fan, and was never too far from a TV when a game was on. Dad was also a fighter, which was evident by his 8 year battle with lung cancer and dementia.
Bill is survived by his children, Bill (Kim) Glass and MaryBeth (Ken) Habel; grandchildren, Brady and Griffin Glass, Will, Jack, and Abby Habel; sister-in-law, Roberta (late Jim) Dolos; and nephew, Chris Dolos. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Beverly; his parents; and grandson, Cooper Glass.
