Moments of Memory

William C. Moore was called to his Heavenly Home on Thursday September 1, 2022. At his home I’m his sleep. He was the son of the late John Moore Sr. and Tressie Slacum-Moore was born June 6, 1934 in Dorchester County.

William also affectionately known as “Bill/Billy” attended public schools in Dorchester County. He graduated from Maces Lane High School in 1942. After graduation he entered the United States Army where he was a sharpshooter and paratrooper for the military. With an honorable discharge from the military in 1959, William beggar working at A.I. DuPont. He left the eastern shore and started working at Bainbridge Naval Base, then Aberdeen Proving Ground, then respectfully retired from Fort George Meade in 1982. William was a compassionate and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a great sense of humor. Those that knew him knew he loved his grandchildren dearly. His family was very precious to him and his spirit will live on through them.

William was a devoted member of Maces Lane Alumni Association, the Triple Nickels, DAV and was a basketball coach to many. He was very active with the youth.

William is survived by his lovely devoted wife Betty Elizabeth Moore of 36 years. Also survived by his son Donnell Pinder (Lisa) of Easton, MD daughter Christine Lindsey (Jon) of Havre de Grace, MD a grandson Darius Moore whom he raised of Edgewood, MD. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Alexander Wongus of Maddens Springs, MD John West Moore of Cambridge, MD. Calvin Moore of Baltimore, MD. Barbara Cummings of Cambridge, MD.

William is proceed in death by a daughter Pandora Pinder his parents John and Tressie Moore. Seven brothers Garfield, Ronald, Joe Louis, Leon, Willie, and Andrew Moore.
