William "Bill" Patrick Hastings

William "Bill" Patrick Hastings, 86, passed away on February 7, 2024. Bill’s gregarious personality filled a room and made an impact on all he met in the U.S. Army and as an educator, salesman and entrepreneur. He loved bringing people together for a basketball game at the Decathalon Club, a party at his home, an American Legion softball game, or a game of racquetball with whomever dared face him. Bill worked, played, and cared hard for the people in his life, and will be missed. Many thanks to the caregivers at the MN Veterans Home and Grace Hospice for their excellent care.

Survived by his sweetheart of 63 years, Patricia, sons Joseph (Carren) and Paul (Paulette), grandchildren Erica (Chris Hood), David (Chris), Marcella (Matthew), Eleanor, Hannah, Sean, Caitlin, great grandchildren Rhilynn and Leon, sisters Mary Grace (David) Flannery, Terry Ann (Terry Pat) McDevitt, Francie (Brad) Berg, sisters-in-law Maria Hastings, Rae Lynn Hastings, and Elaine (Jerry) Steenberg, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by parents Harry and Gladys (Berry) Hastings and siblings Jeanne (Chuck) Speegle, Herb and Harry Hastings, in-laws Donna (Kenny) LaVone and Joanie (Bob) Selover.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 11am, with visitation at 10am at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 9900 Lyndale Avenue S, Bloomington. Lunch will follow at the church.

Burial on Thursday, April 25, 11am, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Avenue South, Minneapolis 55450. Enter Gate 2 and gather by 10:45am in Assembly Area 3.
