About Wanda

A beloved mother and granny, Wanda G. Burfiend's love of life didn't end with her death. Wanda passed away peacefully on May 9, 2022, at the age of 89, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their life with kindness.

On October 24, 1932, Wanda was born to Bertha and Guy Matthews in Brownwood, Texas. Wanda spent her childhood in awe of her siblings Betty (Jones) and David, telling her grandchildren how she envied their personality and wit.

Wanda was born to be a mother and wife. She married her sweetheart Robert E. Burfiend and had two handsome boys, Paul and Robert Jr. The four of them traveled the world during Robert's time in the military. During these adventures, Wanda fell in love with sightseeing, bingo, fashion, and exploring small towns for antiques.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Wanda. She loved an evening with friends and laughter. She spent many days cooking and cleaning for her sons and grandchildren. Her perfect day involved a trip shopping or antiquing, a dinner with her family, a game of bingo, and an evening to watch a classic western or Gone With The Wind.

Wanda is survived by her sons, Paul and Bobby, and grandchildren Donny, Sarah, and Samantha.
