Spring Lake Park, MN 55432, USA

Walter George Stevermer, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home on April 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 27, 1935, in Polk County, Wisconsin, to George and Mabel (Johnson) Stevermer.

Walter graduated from Milltown High School and went on to build a life centered on family, hard work, and the simple joys he loved most. He spent most of his working years in the sheet-metal trade, where he took great pride in his craftsmanship.

On February 29, 1964, he married the love of his life, Shirley Olheiser. Together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage, filled with laughter, devotion, and cherished memories.

Walter had a deep love for his family—his wife, brothers, children, and grandchildren meant everything to him. He was an avid collector with a passion for finding treasures, whether at shops or along the way. He enjoyed spending time outdoors in his yard, tinkering with clocks, radios, and cars, and attending car shows with his brother. He was always ready to share a cold drink, a laugh, and his playful spirit with those around him.

Walter faced his illness with remarkable grace and a bit of his well-known stubbornness, never losing his sense of humor and continuing to bring laughter to his family until the very end.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Donald and Gordon; his sister-in-law, Marion; and his son-in-law, Lee Larson.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his daughters, Lisa (Lee) Larson and Georgeann (Jerry) Wade; his grandchildren, Wyatt (Jaida) Wade and Cheyanne Wade; and his brother, Harold Stevermer.

A celebration of Walter’s life will be held on Saturday, May 2, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at his home in Spring Lake Park.

Walter will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his love, humor, and the joy he brought to those around him
