Vernon C. Steenerson

August 25, 1934 – January 4, 2026

Minneapolis, MN, USA

Vern "Steener" Steenerson passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026. He was 91 years old. Vern was born on August 25, 1934 in Fertile, Minnesota. His Dad, Christian Guerenous Steenerson, passed away in 1944 when Vern was 10. This loss was very hard on Vern. In the time they had, his Dad was able to pass along his love of fishing and hunting. Vern thoroughly enjoyed fishing and hunting for most of his life. He graduated from Fertile High School in 1954.

When Vern was a young buck, he married Joyce Matthews. They enjoyed dancing at the club and boating with friends on the Mississippi River on their houseboat. In the 1980's, they bought an RV and enjoyed traveling with friends and their dogs. They went to the Fertile Fair often and never missed a Minnesota Vikings game on television. Vern rooted for the Vikings until his death even wearing his hat with horns and gold braids. Joyce passed away in 2002.

Vern started his own flooring business called Vern's Flooring. He enjoyed working with customers and creating beautiful floors. When the big stores arrived, he could not compete so had to close the business. He continued to install floors with friends into his 70's. It was then he started dating Dee Gand. He enjoyed her company very much. His family was so glad he had someone to share his life with. Vern and Dee enjoyed going to the casino and being at the Eagle's Club. Vern was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of the

Eagles #3718 and made many friends there. He called the Eagle's Club "his office." He was a tough cookie and always had a fish story to tell or a "Sven and Ole" joke to share.

Vern is preceded in death by wife, Joyce, mother, Thilda Lillian Meyer ( Amundson), sister, Jorean Nornes, stepson, Terry Larson, son, Randy Lindeman, daughter, Linda and partner, Dee Gand. Survived by wonderful friends; Donna ScheiSikich and Terry Johnson.
