Our Dear Val

Valerie Jean Lawrence Herold, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on January 13, 2025 surrounded by family and her treasured dog Tosca.

Valerie was born on February 1, 1959 in Wheaton, MN to Laurel and Marge Lawrence. We loved Val’s kind and giving heart, her sunny personality, and her dry sense of humor.

Her love of the outdoors made Val an adventurer. Val was an avid camper, gardener, cook, and baker. She loved dancing, especially to the music of her favorite band, Earth Wind and Fire.

Valerie met Scott Herold in 1986 and they were married in 1992. Together they built a home in Vermont, a cabin in Wisconsin, renovated many homes, and went on countless trips camping, sailing and hiking.

We miss Val and are comforted knowing that she is in heaven with no Alzheimer’s, no pain, and surrounded by those she loves. She might be baking her famous apple pies for everyone to enjoy.

Val was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Herold, and her mother, Marge Lawrence. Val is survived by her father, Laurel Lawrence, siblings and their families: Mark, Darlene and Avery Lawrence, Wendy and Joe Capetz, Greg, Nicole, Ella and Aliyah Lawrence.

The celebration of Val’s life will take place on Friday, June 20.
