life story

Forever the foot soldier

Todd Collyer lost his final battle waging war against Cancer on the morning of February 9, 2022. One month shy of his 63rd birthday. A service will be announced later when it is not so cold. A celebration of life and maybe a military funeral at Fort Snelling. His family and friends in California may want to have a get together to remember him like they did his brothers.

Todd's journey

Todd Collyer was born 3/9/1959 to William Collyer and Bernice Holligan in Passaic, New Jersey. He grew up in Riverside, California, graduating from La Sierra High School. He spent 8 years in the army and served in the gulf war. While stationed in Germany he married Roxana Ramirez and had a daughter Kayla Collyer. When he left the army they moved to Washington. They divorced and he returned to Riverside. Then in Dec 1995 he moved to the Twin Cities. TC moved to TC, where he lived the rest of his days. He made his home in NE Mpls since 2010. He was preceded in death by his father William Collyer and all three of his brothers, Scott, David, and Gary Collyer. He is survived by his mother Bernice Crisp and a sister Lisa Hirth, several nieces and nephews all in California. His daughter Kayla Collyer of Florida. His life partner of 25 years Wendy Rudquist and her daughter Rachel Holm (Curtis Comeau) of Coon Rapids and his cats Stinker and Peanut. He will be missed by the many friends he made family over the years. He loved to play golf and the guitar. Being a disabled veteran he had many trials and tribulations, but he was forever the foot soldier, always going to work, marching on through the pain. Then in January 2020 he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He held up pretty well for over a year of chemo, but then about 6 months ago it took a turn and slowly sucked the life out of him. He wanted to go back to Riverside to see his family and friends one last time but Covid and his failing health made it just a dream. He took his last breath with his cats at his side and Wendy holding his hand.
