About Tim
On Monday, December 6th in the early afternoon, Tim Hansen passed away peacefully with his son Chad by his side.
Tim lived a full life with family always surrounding him. He loved to bow hunt, camp, travel and visit with family and friends. He also loved his weekly visits to the VA in Minneapolis for physical therapy! He had many friends there and would stop in and say hi to them every week.
Tim was born to Gerald & Rita Hansen on November 12th, 1950 in St. Paul, MN. He is the second oldest of 10 children. He graduated from Washington High School in St. Paul, MN in 1968.
Tim joined the Navy on January 14, 1969, during the Vietnam War. During his service, he visited Vietnam, Singapore & Japan. Tim loved Japan! He had many friends there and really enjoyed the culture, people and food! Tim was released from active duty on November 21, 1972, just after his 22nd birthday.
On his return from Vietnam, Tim welcomed his one and only son Chadwick Timothy John Hansen. The rest of his life, Tim devoted his time to Chad, his work and his family.
The majority of Tim's career was spent with Control Data repairing printers. He enjoyed all the technology behind the repairs and was very proud of what he did! While he was working and raising his son, Tim also attended the Art Institute of Minnesota where he loved taking pictures and drawing.
In his mid 50's, Tim was diagnosed with terminal Myeloma Cancer, which was contracted from his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Tim immediately traveled to Tennessee for stem cell transplants in hope to slow the spread of his cancer. The transplant and his will to live helped him fight for 15 more years!
Tim is survived by his mother Rita Hansen; son, Chad (Shaina) Hansen; grandchildren Blake (Harley) Hansen, Bailey Hansen, Mariah Carson, Mackenzie Hansen and Jaxson Udstuen; great-grandchildren Kaylinn Hansen, Oaklynn Carson and Lincoln Thomas; brothers and sisters, Bill (Ellen) Hansen, Mark Hansen, Mary Jo (Tom) Kaymmerer, Patricia Ellingson, David (Jill) Hansen, Jeffrey (Darla) Hansen, Sharon (Dan) Melsha and Grace Reinke ; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
