life story

June 6, 2022, Thomas Wayne Cook, loving husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 85. Tom was born March 3, 1937 in White Bear Lake, moving a few years later to St. Paul. Upon graduation from high school, Tom spent 2 years active duty aboard a naval vessel in the Mediterranean Sea, where he got to “see the world.” After his service, Tom got a business degree and moved to Chicago, hometown of his future wife, Joan. They met at a dance concert and married in February 1965, moving to Manhattan for 6 months while Tom received his training and licensing to become a stock broker, a career he held until his retirement. Many of Tom’s clients stayed with him throughout his career.

Tom placed a high value on family and friendship. Many of his friends traced back to his elementary school years. He was a master of making new friends and keeping the old.

Tom was a great storyteller with a sharp mind and memory. His love of travel didn’t end with his service in the Navy; he took his family on many memorable road trips.

Tom was preceded in death by his dear parents, Joseph and Marguerite and his much-loved sister, Joan. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan, four children and their spouses, Carolyn (Kevin), Joseph, James (Mariel) and Daniel (Tina) and his grandchildren, Nicklaus, Karmen, Connor, Lillian, Solange, Aidan and Alexander. Tom will be buried at sea aboard a naval vessel. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM on August 9 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2048 Hamline Ave N, Roseville. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service and luncheon following.
