About Cap't Tom
Thomas “Cap’t Tom” Muntean passed away at the age of 67, surrounded by family and friends.
Tom fought hard and courageously for 15 months, battling Cholangio Carcinoma (bile duct cancer).
Tom worked at Temperance River State Park, Isle Royale National Park, Lutsen Ski Hill, Cook County School District as a bus driver, Taconite Harbor, Two Harbors AEOA and with the DTA at the time of his retirement.
As Cap’t Tom of North Coast Charters, he very much enjoyed chartering people out on Lake Superior hoping they would get the experience of reeling in a nice Lake Superior trout of salmon. He shared many stories about his chartering adventures.
After diagnosis, Tom’s last year of life was filled with adventures. He kept his bucket list full and crossed them off, one by one, including a fishing trip to Alaska. He also enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with family and friends.
He loved camping, fishing, riding motorcycle, picking berries, canning, maple syruping, shuffleboard, campfires, spending time with friends and family and so much more.
Survivors include his girlfriend and caregiver Laura; his daughter, Emily; granddaughter Rorie, who he loved to the moon and back; as well as cousins and many friends.
He is very missed and will continue to be missed by so many.
