About Tom . . .
Thomas George Foy, age 85, of Minnetonka, MN, went to be with Jesus after he passed away peacefully at Fairview Southdale Hospital on Saturday, April 5th, 2025.
Tom was born on July 13, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents William and Marie Foy . After moving to Minneapolis as a child, he attended Christ the King school followed by DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, where he graduated in 1957.
Tom carried out the lessons of his youth throughout his life embodying the values of hard work and integrity. His professional career was a testament to his skillful artistry as a master cabinetmaker and draftsman where he crafted not only woodworks but also a respected reputation for excellence.
Tom married his high school sweetheart, Gail, who preceded him in death after 60 years of marriage. She was his "Angel", best friend and exhorter when he needed it most.
Tom and Gail started a family in Minneapolis, before moving to Bloomington, then Northfield, St. Paul and finally, Bloomington again; their children include: Robert (Amy), David (Michelle), Richard (Geri), Christina Jensen (Eric), Tamaleah Sargent, Marcia Milne (John). Tom and Gail were also foster parents to 36 children for over 25 years. He is also survived by his elder brothers William M. Foy, Jr. and James H. Foy (Kay).
A man of faith, Tom lived by example. His actions always reflecting the love of Jesus that was the essence of his being. He was an active member of each church community he belonged to, including Hope Church, where he served as both an elder and a deacon. He would often volunteer to help those in need, including mission trips as work crew to help rehab damaged homes and share the love of Jesus.
Throughout Tom's life, he held closely to the many people whom he cultivated life-long friendships with. His loyalty, sincerity and legendary sense of humor are just a few of his characteristics that drew his friends together for many memories.
The legacy of Tom and Gail can be seen in the lives of their (16) grandchildren and (3) great-grandchildren, all of whom brought joy to Tom's life, including their many friendships that lasted for decades.
