life story

Tambra Grevich (Thompson), age 67, of Amery, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on January 17th at the University of Minnesota Hospital.

Tami was born on January 24, 1958, in Sacramento, California, to Davis Thompson and Maxine (Durham) Hurst. She grew up in Oakland, California, with her parents, brother, and sister until 1970, when the family returned to Sacramento. Tami graduated from Kennedy High School in 1976, where she was known for her participation in gifted classes.

After graduation, Tami traveled to Wisconsin to visit her friend Brenda. She fell in love with the area and decided to make it her home, settling in Star Prairie, Wisconsin. There, she married George Grevich (Butch) and welcomed two daughters, Melissa (Grevich) Jones and Sara Grevich. A few years later, she earned her Nursing Degree and began working as a High-Tech RN for Hiawatha Home Healthcare, where she cared for babies with special needs as they transitioned home.

Tami went on to spend much of her career as a Charge Nurse at the St. Croix Health Center. She also became a Certified Hypnotherapist and discovered a passion for astrology, particularly creating birth charts. This interest grew into a small business she ran from her home, Prairie Star Astrology.

In addition to being a dedicated mother, Tami was a devoted animal lover. She deeply loved all of her pet cats, dogs, and chickens, each of which held a special place in her heart and brought her great joy.

After retiring, Tami moved in with her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. She spent her days sunbathing, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, baking, and cooking—something she truly loved and excelled at. Tami was an amazing cook and took great joy in preparing meals and treats for the people she loved. She also loved music and attending concerts, enjoyed gathering with friends, reading, shopping, crafting, and singing. Her final five years were joyfully spent as a dedicated grandmother.

Tami is survived by her brother and sister, Frederick Thompson and Kimbra Lee; her daughters, Melissa (Erik) Jones and Sara (Jeff) Grevich; and her four grandchildren, Preston Jones, Jadelyn Habisch, Wyatt Jones, and Maxx Habisch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Davis Thompson and Maxine Hurst (Durham).

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
