About Susan
Susan was a veteran of the US Navy and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland, as well as study at Tulane University. Before retirement in December, 2019 she worked as a technical writer for Wood Consulting, contracted by the Federal Aviation Administration. Always keeping busy, she took freelance writing jobs and read tarot cards as side hustles. She was proud to call herself a “card carrying genius,” maintaining an active membership in Mensa for decades. She was also a devout Wiccan and spent many years studying paganism and how it translated to her path in life. She loved to go to the theater to watch movies where things exploded and never missed an opportunity to dote on her grandchildren.
Susan passed away peacefully at home in her sleep from complications caused from a reoccurrence of the lung cancer that she had stomped down with great fury 25 years earlier. She was near family and surrounded with love.
Survived by mother, Clara; brother, Robert; three children, Ian, Laurence and Tamara; four grandchildren, Christopher, Zachary, Alexander and Daniel; a whole bunch of “her people,” many aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as numerous furry grandchildren and furry great-grandchildren. Preceded by her dad, Warren; brother, Richard and son, Stephen.
A small memorial service with her final request of a burial at sea will be held in April, 2022. Details upon request only, as space is limited.
