life story
Amazing Friend & Brother
Steven Robb Campbell was the youngest of 10 children and passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on October 4, 2024, in St. Paul, Minnesota at the age of 36 after a 15-month battle with cancer.
He is survived by his close friend, Sydney Mojica; and his nine siblings, Daniel Lee “Dan” (Tanya) Campbell, Timothy Taylor “Tim” (Barb) Campbell, Christopher “Scott” Campbell, Edwin Andrew “Andy” (Sandy) Campbell, Paul Martin “Marty” (Amy) Zimmerman, Richard “Clark” (Ann) Zimmerman, Casey Allan Campbell, Wesley Graham "Wes" Campbell, and Courtney Kathryn (Pascal) Campbell Rousseau. He was preceded in death by his parents, Susan Jane Campbell (Caldemeyer) and H. Edwin “Ed” Campbell, M.D.; his dog Daisy; and his cat Claire.
About Steven
Steven was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated from University High School in 2007. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Augsburg College in 2013 and served as an IT Business Systems Analyst for Connected Care with Medtronic.
Steven adored his four-legged friends and grew up in a home filled with Boston terriers and kitty cats. He adopted Daisy, a black lab rescue, in 2011; they were inseparable. His cat, Claire, loved to nap on his computer or sit in the window while he was gaming. He spent countless hours connecting with friends from across the globe through video games.
When people described Steven, they often remarked on his smile, how gentle and loving he was with animals, and his quiet nature. He never had a unkind word to say about anyone in the family. Whether leading a team at work or mobilizing a team of gamers on discord, Steven was adept at leading people to a common goal.
Upon being diagnosed with cancer in August of 2023, he expressed a deep interest in truly wanting to enjoy the rest of his life. Amidst many difficult cancer treatments, he still managed to take a trip to Hawaii and participated in a family vacation to Hilton Head Island. Even with a terminal diagnosis, he never gave up hope for the future.
From Steven: "Tell your dog I said hi."
Special Thanks
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sydney Mojica - her bedside manner and talent in the field of medicine are unmatched.
The family would also like to thank Steven's friend, Nat Kolasa-Lenarz, for the support he showed Steven over the years.
