Witty, hardworking Mr. Fix-it. Loved to wet a line or spend time in the deer stand or duck blind. Was an avid outdoorsman.

Steve’s Story

Steven couldn’t wait to come into this world and was born in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. He’s been a go getter ever since. Steven passed away October 1st, 2026 of cancer/heart disease at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard Axle Sward & Vivian Marie Wiggins-Sward, his daughter Theresa Ann Carlson and Granddaughter Katrina Carlson. He is remembered by his siblings/spouses Ralph/Sandy, Diane/Victor, Roger/Jan, Stanley/Roxanne, Suzie, Daughter Brenda/Sam, Grandchildren Tressa/Joshua, Nathaniel/Lauren, Matthew, Brady/Lindsey, Emily/Joshua and Great-Grandchildren Xylar, Skylar, Howie, Hallie, Lexie, Brant, Emery, Sullivan and Elowyn as well as the many family members and friends whose lives he touched throughout his life. A proud Veteran of the United States Army and the 101st Airborne, Steven served in Korea His Military service was an important part of his life and reflected the strength, determination and courage that he carried with him throughout the years. Steve was a machinist for Medco in Crystal Lake, MN and he manufactured the first case for the first heart pacemaker. He was very detail oriented in his machinist occupation.

Steven was a brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend to many. His family was a source of great pride and joy and will miss him greatly.
