life story

Steven Courtney Larsen, lovingly known as Stevie to those close to him, passed away at St. Luke’s ICU, on April 13, 2026 surrounded by family.

Born on November 16, 1971 to Henry and Evelyn Larsen in Grand Marais, Mn. He is survived by his mother Evelyn Larsen, brothers, Brian, Donald, and David Larsen, his daughter Samantha (JT) Kosnitch, Grandson Brody Larsen, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his Father, Henry Larsen.

Stevie lived a life defined by quiet generosity, hard work and a warmth that left a lasting mark on those fortunate to know him.

In his early years he worked in the woods with his dad, a time he treasured. He especially cherished the times he took his daughter Samantha along when she was young. Also all the times he got to visit with all of the older lumber jacks that he greatly admired and loved. Stevie was an amazing cook, taking great pride in feeding the people he loved. He also had a gift of being able to figure out just about anything, and if at first he didn’t know how, he would always figure it out. He was a true pit master and was especially proud of the custom trailer he built for himself. Above all, he loved dogs and left behind dear Oliver.

In his later years Stevie was employed by: Sven and Ole’s Pizza, SJ Bautch Construction, North Shore Waste, and the Birch Terrace Supper Club.

A Celebration of Life will be held: May 23, 2026 at Birch Terrace from 1 to 5 p.m. Relatives and friends welcome.

Stevie’s family want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the North Shore Emergency and at St. Luke’s ICU for their excellent care afforded Steve and his Loved Ones.
