About Steven

Steven Allan Hall, 72, of Park Rapids, MN passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the St. Mary's Essentia Health care in Duluth, MN.

Steven graced the world with his exuberant laugh, his devotion to family, his loyalty to friends, and his passion for the outdoors.

Steve loved Nancy, his wife of 46 years and his steadfast partner in the joys and challenges of life.

Steve was so proud of his sons Kevin and Brian. He cherished their time together – in the duck blind, the fishing boat, the hockey rink – and watching them grow into families of their own.

Steve treasured his grandchildren. Hazel and Henry, James and Billy brought a whole new dimension of delight to his life. Grandpa Steve loved to get down on the floor to play, loved splashing and swimming together in the lake, loved sharing laughter and hugs with them all.

Steve honored his parents, Ken and Shirley, and his sisters Sue and Pam and their families.

Steve savored his many friendships, old and new: The tradition of fishing trips with longtime friends, sharing contentment in good times and supporting each other through hardships; the pleasure of making new friends as Steve and Nancy built their life in Florida.

Steve brought beauty to the world through flowers, gardens, and natural landscapes that enhanced and protected the lakes and lands he loved.

Steve cared deeply for the natural world. His sense of urgency to protect the world that we share was a core value of his – from the lakes of Minnesota, to the natural world at large. Steve used his horticulture expertise and his passion for the outdoors to drive stewardship of the water and the land. He was a tireless advocate across the community, and a longtime volunteer with the Hubbard County Coalition of Lake Associations (COLA).

Steve built community. He was highly active in the leadership and work of COLA, and the Park Rapids Hockey Association. Steve was committed to having hockey available to as many youth as possible. He helped steward the local youth leagues, and spearheaded fundraising for new boards for the association’s rink.

Steve passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, surrounded by Nancy and his boys, hunting and fishing stories, and so much love.

Steve was born on September 6, 1951 in Minneapolis to Kenneth M. and Shirley A. (nee Crowle) Hall. He grew up in Crystal and Plymouth; attended Wayzata High School; and lived in the Minneapolis area before moving with his family to Park Rapids in 1994 and later to Nevis. Steve was the owner of Shoreline Creations, a lakeshore restoration business built on his decades of experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance throughout Minnesota.

Steve is survived by his wife Nancy A. (nee Spethmann) Hall of Nevis, MN; son Kevin (Alexandra) Hall and grandsons James and Billy, all of Excelsior; son Brian (Leah) Hall and grandchildren Hazel and Henry, all of Park Rapids; his mother Shirley Hall of New Port Richey, FL; his sister Pamela Hall of New Port Richey, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Hall and his sister Sue Hall.
