An irrepressible soul. Much loved son, brother and friend, gone too soon.

Spencer Simo Knutson died from an accidental overdose on Saturday, September 23rd after a long struggle with addiction.

Spencer is survived by his mom, Brenda and brother, Christopher, Aunts Rhonda Grobe and Barbara Goulet. He is preceded in death by his father Steve Knutson, his grandmas Irene Knutson and Mary Proctor, Great Aunt Marilyn Stalheim , Uncles Steve Grobe, Tony Godzik and Jimmy Proctor

Spencer was adopted from Isperih, Bulgaria at the age of four. Upon joining the Knutson family, he immediately filled their hearts with his charisma and joy. A naturally gifted performer, he had a personality that drew the spotlight. He excelled in dance and acting from a young age, attending FAIR School and St. Paul Conservatory for the Performing Arts. He was also a beloved member of the Westwood Lutheran Church youth group.

Spencer could light up a room with his charm and was incredibly perceptive when it came to people. If you met him once, you never forgot him. He had an impeccable sense for both fashion and comedic timing. It was rare to go anywhere with Spencer and not have at least one person recognize him and want to kiki.

Living in our world as an adopted, gay and brown man, his life was sure to be full of struggle, but he was resilient and never lost his ability to draw people to him. He carried a heavy burden as best he could and we love him so much.

A memorial will be held at Westwood Lutheran Church on Monday, October 23rd at 11am.
