Simone's Life

Simone Nicole Lyke was born on July 27, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois, to loving parents Suzette and Kevin Lyke. From the very beginning, Simone was showered with love, and she gave it back in abundance.

Simone was educated in the Chicago Public School system and attended Simeon Vocational High School. She went on to college in Chicago to pursue a program as a medical assistant and continued her training in San Antonio, Texas. She took her work ethic very seriously, loved the people she worked with, and was always ready to try something new. She was eager to learn and explore, and she was a quick study—you could show her something once, and she had it.

Simone lived life on her own terms. She did what she wanted to do and lived boldly and beautifully. She loved hard and out loud, laughed often, and had fun until the wheels fell off the car—and then she’d get out and walk it off. She loved to sing, dance, and make money to buy her beloved Jordans. She had so many pairs, she could have bought a car with what she spent on shoes!

She loved her family with all her heart and soul. She leaves to mourn a host of siblings, cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends who all loved her dearly.

Though Simone had no children of her own, she was everybody’s Tete. She was always stepping in to care for and give love to the children of family and friends from the moment they were born. She was a big kid at heart with a playful spirit, which is why it’s so hard to believe that such a kind-hearted person was called to heaven so soon.

Simone gave her life to Christ at a young age through her uncle, Pastor William H. Conley, at Connolly New Alpha Progressive Baptist Church. She also shared her gift of music, singing at Second Baptist Church in Evanston and Pilgrim Baptist Church in Chicago.

Her light, her laughter, and her love touched all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Letter to my TT

To My Forever Angel,

I can’t begin to explain how broken my heart has been since you left this place called Earth. Day in and day out, I try to make sense of why such a huge piece of me was taken away so soon. You were more than a friend—you were my best friend, my cheerleader, my partner in crime. The most phenomenal soul a girl could ever ask for.

I will forever cherish our memories, our long vent sessions, the life lessons we shared, and the way we poured our hearts out to each other. You, my emotional gangsta Leo, built me up in ways I never knew I needed. Every morning that God wakes me up, I feel you with me. I hear you reminding me this isn’t goodbye—it’s just "see you later."

I carry your strength with me in everything I do. We always celebrated each other's wins, big or small, knowing exactly where we came from and how far we had come.

To be a reflection of your bright soul is one of the greatest honors of my life. I probably will never stop hearing your voice or seeing your face in my mind—but I know that when we meet again, it will feel like no time has passed at all.

Always and forever, Monie loves Mini 🩷

Hey Tete, life is strange without you here and it probably will be for awhile and I don’t think I’ve ever cried this much but I’m staying strong for you. I just hope wherever you are you’re at peace or like how I knew you partying until you physically can’t anymore

To my beautiful cousin Simone, you were a force of nature—someone who couldn’t be contained in a box. Your unwavering spirit and fierce determination were truly inspiring. I was always amazed by how you danced to your own rhythm, fearlessly pursuing your dreams and living life on your terms. Your energy always lifted me. I find solace in knowing you’re now reunited with Uncle Kevin, watching over us with that radiant smile.

With all my love,

Jason

Tribute From Maiya

And Yet… Simone is our light. We were so close in age, yet you left us too soon. Our childhood brought so much joy, yet this loss has brought so much sadness. As adults, life created distance, yet whenever we saw each other it felt as if no time had passed at all. Life brought you challenges, yet you were the very manifestation of hope. You told me to keep pushing and hustling. You brought us laughter. Your support and drive moved mountains. You were a niece, a cousin, an aunt, a sister, and a daughter. You persisted—always. It was in your nature to find light through darkness and laughter through pain. And now that you’re gone, you remain our light—the glimmer on my face, the joy I feel when I’m with our family. Yes, grief rests heavy in our hearts, yet your light creates a bridge of memories that brings us peace, little by little, day by day.

Tribute From Brian Holman

Simone, I can't help but think of your vibrant spirit and your ability to bring people together. It was a privilege to see you go from a sweet little sassy girl to a fierce, brave beautiful young woman. You brought joy and laughter to everyone around. Although our communication wasn't always strong, the past six months allowed us to reconnect and deepen our bond, giving us both cherished memories to hold onto. Pink Princess, your incredible ability to draw people in with your caring heart created a community of family and friends who were blessed to have felt your love.

While I know your soul is with our father and sister.

Your spirit and memory will forever shine in our hearts.

Love you always,

Brian

Tribute From Jada DeJesus

To my Big Sissy,

I love you so much, and I am heartbroken by your passing. You were supposed to be here longer; we were supposed to find our way back to being sisters. I thought we had time. I thought time would heal our wounds. Even without time on our side, I know you must know how much I loved you—how much the little sister in me looked up to you and longed to be as brave as you.

That little sister weeps today and will continue to weep. For while I understand our time was never promised, and that there was a holier plan that called for your presence, the little sister in me is still hurt and confused. She now sends her love straight to you, as you begin to watch over me from above.

The pain and emptiness I feel without you here now stands as proof of how deep that love always ran—deeper than time, resentment, or the past. Though our time together wasn’t long, the impact will last forever. My love for you, and your love for me, now lives within me, and I carry it—and you—with me always. ❤️

Tribute from Keke

TO MY SOUL SISTER SIMONE LYKE

In the tapestry of life, stitched with threads of gold,

I was blessed to have you in my life, a treasure to hold.

Not just a friend, but my sister in spirit,

In every shared moment, your laughter, I’d hear it.

You were the sunshine that brightened my days,

With a heart full of kindness, in so many ways.

Through the highs and the lows, you stood by my side,

A baby sister, my confidante, my pride.

How lucky I was, in this journey we shared,

To have you beside me, to know that you cared.

In the chaos of life, you were my gentle calm,

A soothing presence, a healing balm.

We painted our dreams on the canvas of time,

With colors of joy, and rhythms that rhyme.

You showed me what love could truly mean,

In the laughter, the tears, in the spaces between.

Though life brought its struggles, and shadows would creep,

In the depths of my heart, your love I would keep.

You taught me of strength, of courage, of grace,

In your embrace, I found my safe place.

Each memory we crafted, a gem in my soul,

A bond that was sacred, that made me feel whole.

And though you’ve departed, your spirit remains,

A light in the darkness, through losses and gains.

The moments, the laughter we shared,

To the love that we nurtured, a friendship so rare.

I carry you with me, in all that I do,

Forever grateful, my heart will & forever sing & rap for you.

So here’s to the laughter, the tears that we shared,

To the moments of silence, the times that we dared.

In the garden of memories, you blossom, you thrive,

My soul sister SIMONE LYKE, your love, forever alive.

In the garden of memories, your essence still blooms,

A reminder of love that forever consumes.

Luck isn’t merely a fleeting chance,

It’s knowing you, Simone, in this beautiful dance.
