life story
We're quite sure fireworks welcomed Sharon to heaven
Sharon passed away on July 4th at age 83. Sharon was known for her great smile, heartwarming laugh, devotion to her family and selflessness. Sharon “mothered” her children to the very end, with constant love, encouragement and gratitude.
Our beloved Sharon was born on July 31st, 1937 in Iowa. Our Grandma Wilson (her mother) said Sharon was so small she could fit in a shoe box. That was a sign of things to come: a tough, strong woman who never quit. She grew up with her two sisters, Linda and Judy. Sharon met Ted Romberg (our dad) in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin while he was finishing seminary at a local church and they married. They had two children, Kristin and Susan. Sharon was a tireless servant of the church family and worked every bit as hard as Ted when he became an ordained Lutheran pastor.
Sharon was an incredibly kind and sweet person, but she was no pushover. Hence the nickname “Share Bear” from some. Sharon would always remind us with a finger point, “I’m the mother!” One of Sharon’s biggest jobs was to say, “Oh, Ted!” Every morning Ted would make Sharon some coffee, and every morning she would say, “Oh, Ted. This coffee is too strong.” Sharon would say, “Oh, Ted” when he would ding the elevator bell button and the grandchildren (of which she had six) would giggle with delight.
Ted passed away suddenly on February 27, 2019. We can imagine Ted standing in heaven with his hands on his hips and saying to Sharon as she left us this week, “What took you so long?”
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted; her nephew, Jason Fiske; and her youngest sister, Judy McCollom.
Sharon will be dearly missed by all, especially her daughters and sons-in-law (Susan and Rob Frey and Kristin and Greg Moyer) and sister (Linda Fiske). And her six grandchildren: Scott Frey, Natalie Frey, Noah Moyer, Griffin Moyer, Wilson Moyer and Dylan Moyer.
