Life Cute Short

Shane Thomas Bass

Shane Thomas Bass came into this world in his normal impatient fashion. Born July 3rd, 1985 at 5:50 am in Fort Morgan Community Hospital, to parents Jayne Moran and James Bass. As well as annoyed older sister Bridgette Bass.

The Bass family would spend most of Shane’s childhood on the 700 block of State Street in Fort Morgan Colorado with a few years spent in Oklahoma and Kansas due to the demands of Jame’s trucking jobs. Shane was known for his love for outdoor activities like hunting and fishing throughout his childhood. New passions were added in the mid-’90s with his introduction to video games and the establishment of the Colorado Avalanche. A hockey team with which Shane would be a devoted fan throughout his life, regardless of the winning records the team may have.

Shane would graduate from Fort Morgan High School in 2003. He would move to Denver the same year to attend college with his then-girlfriend and later wife, Amanda Segura. Through many jobs and years of trying to go to college, Shane’s greatest joy came into this world with the birth of his daughter, Madison Bass. It would be her birth that would motivate Shane to graduate from the Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. With the knowledge of his degree, Shane would find a career as an auditor for the Isle of Capri Casino, Academy Bank, and lastly the Bureau of Land Management in the Federal Center in Lakewood Colorado.

In late 2012, Shane would receive the heartbreaking news that would change the direction of his life. In October of 2012, the loss of vision in his right eye would lead to the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis the following month, the same disease that plagued his father and grandmother before him. This little-understood disease would in the end also be what claimed his life.

Shane is survived by his; daughter Madison Bass, sister Bridgette Bass, nieces Aubrey Bass, Jacqueline Bass-Zuniga, Brother-in-law Rolondo Zuniga Tovar, and ex-wife and long-time friend Amanda Segura. He is preceded by both his parents, mother Jayne Moran and Father James Bass.
