Selvin "Skip" Wells Jr., age 62, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Born on June 9, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, Selvin lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and devotion to his family and community.
A proud veteran of the United States Marines, Selvin served his country with honor as an E-5 Sergeant. His time in the military exemplified his dedication to service and discipline—qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.
Selvin was a man of deep faith and unwavering belief in Jesus Christ. He walked closely with the Lord every day and found strength and purpose in his relationship with God. His faith was evident in the way he treated others—with patience, generosity, and compassion. Selvin had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel seen and cared for, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Above all else, Selvin cherished his family. He was the beloved son of Selvin Wells Sr. and the late Mary Harris. He is survived by his siblings Gail Hall and Selvin Wells; nephew Ayon, and great niece Ayonah; his children Selvin Isaac Wells, Elsie Wells, and Maya (Evan) Wallace; and he eagerly awaited the arrival of his first grandson on the way. Selvin’s greatest joy was being a father to his three children, whom he loved deeply and supported unconditionally.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mary (Rodney) Harris, and aunt Artee Harrison.
Selvin’s legacy is one of love, faith, and selflessness—a life well-lived in service to others. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspire them to carry forward the values he held dear.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor Selvin's life and celebrate the profound impact he had on those around him. A Burial will be held on March 16, 2026, at 01:45 PM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery 7601 34th Ave S. With a memorial lunch to follow.
