About Scott

Scott W. Nelson, 54, of Bagley, Minnesota died on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Sanford Bagley Medical Center.

Scott was born on May 29, 1967 in Denver, Colorado to Donovan Nelson and Laneta (Fluegge). He and his mom moved to Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. After graduating from New Ulm High School, Scott enlisted in the United States Army and served for 2 years, including time stationed overseas in Germany.

He then moved to Arizona and graduated from Arizona University with a degree in Electronics and Robotics. Scott traveled for work, first painting water towers and later doing jobs for structural steel and welding. He was proud to have helped build the E Block building in Minneapolis and he was a proud member of the Iron Workers Union Local 512 of St. Paul.

Always tinkering around, Scott was able to make something useful out of a pile of junk, or at least instruct you how to. He and a friend patented a lean-steer tricycle dubbed the “tilting tadpole”. Nicknamed “Tow Truck”, Scott was there to help pull you out of tough situations and helped anyway he could. He was very mechanically abled and knowledgeable. He was an excellent conversationalist. His ingenuitive and creative spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his sister, Allison Guth; his brother, Andrew Guth; his nephew, Jacob Guth; and his stepdad, Keven Guth.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Laneta Guth; his father Donovan Nelson; and his brother, Grant Nelson.
