life story

A grandfather, father and friend, he will be missed every day.

Scott Heikkinen passed away Friday July 16th at his home in Wilton, he was 57 years old.

Scott loved the outdoors and more than anything he loved to be near Moosehead or on Chesuncook lake at his family’s cabin. The more than four hour long trip was filled with Hank Williams and a truck full of family waiting to make memories. In later years Scott enjoyed the craft of leatherwork, and wood working. He was always up for a good game of cribbage, especially when he didn’t get caught cheating. He had spent the last few summers camping at the Big Eddy with his very good friend, Junior Knowles, enjoying the campfires and probably too many beers, he was usually the center of entertainment at a get together. He loved racing, fishing and drinking to a fault.

Scott had a hard time expressing himself at times but he truly loved his children and he was a fantastic father, when he wanted to be. He loved his friends and would do anything asked of him, again, when he wanted to. He was a good cook and he was funny. He had the best “dad jokes” before dad jokes were even a thing.

Scott is survived by his Mother, Bessie Flanders of South Paris, and his three children, daughter Kelsi Heikkinen and partner Colby Weymouth of Temple, son Kevin Heikkinen and partner Jennifer Mathers of Dixfield and his youngest, his very loved daughter Hailee of Jay. He had two young grandchildren that he adored very much, Carter Richards, son of his daughter Kelsi, and Kolby Heikkinen, Kevin’s son. Although it may have been hard to tell at times, Scott had a very large family with 8 brothers and sisters . His adopted older brother Randy Carter, an older biological sister Kendra McLaughlin, a younger biological brother Stanley who had passed at the age of three and Peter Flanders who was also his younger biological brother. He also had three more younger adopted siblings, Paul, Tammy and Brianna and tons of nieces and nephews. I deciphered them, but you can’t tell who’s adopted and who’s not, we’re all family.

Scott is predeceased by his Grandfather Eaino Heikkinen, his Father William Heikkinen, his brother Stanley Heikkinen and his step father Lee Flanders. He will be cremated and buried with his father and brother in the West Paris Finnish Cemetery.
