Scott Allan Valleen
May 29, 1970 – April 18, 2025
St Paul, MN, USA
Scott Allan Valleen, age 54, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2025. He is survived by his 2 children, Jenna and Dominic Valleen; mother Belinda Stone; 6 siblings, Stacy (Tony) Fischer, Jennifer Laure, Travis (Marnie) Stone, Jason (Karen) Stone, Summer (Kelly) Kristianson, Raymie Valleen; 8 nieces and nephews; as well as many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Valleen and his grandparents.
He was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and moved frequently before eventually settling in the Twin Cities area. He graduated from North Branch High School in 1988 and went on to serve in the US Navy. He spent 4 years aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate, proudly serving during Operation Desert Shield. Upon returning home, Scott built a 19 year career with the Minnesota Department of Corrections retiring honorably as a sergeant.
Scott was a man of passion and purpose, who found great joy in sharing his interests with others—especially his children. Whether it was mountain biking, practicing jiu-jitsu, scuba diving, or even dabbling in rock climbing and MMA fighting, he embraced each pursuit with enthusiasm and heart. Scott was deeply respected in both the mountain biking and combat sports communities, not just for his skills, but for his generosity in teaching and inspiring others. He took immense pride in becoming a Use-of-Force Instructor and a PADI Dive Instructor, roles that allowed him to pass on his knowledge and love for these disciplines. Above all, Scott’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the passions he nurtured in those around him.
His presence in the room was always known by his infectious laugh and his zest for-over-the-top storytelling. He will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to bring a story to share or post one on the Veterans Legacy Memorial page.
Join us for his Celebration of Life at the White Bear Lake American Legion, 2210 3rd St., White Bear Lake, MN 55110 on Wednesday, May 28th from 4-8 pm. Scott will be laid to rest with Honors at The Fort Snelling National Cemetery on May 29th at 10:30am.
