Obituary for Sara Ann Ritchie

Sara Ann Ritchie, 33, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Sara was born on July 21, 1992, in Saint Croix Falls, Wisconsin. She grew up in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, before moving to Pine City, Minnesota, where she graduated high school in 2010.

Sara worked as a restaurant waitress and attended school to become a cosmetologist before following her dream of becoming a flight attendant in 2014. Her adventurous spirit and career took her from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta and Boston, before she settled in Salem, Massachusetts, which she lovingly called home.

Sara met friends wherever she went. She loved everyone she met, and her phone calls were never to talk about her own problems but to ask, “How are you?” She was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and great-aunt. To her family and friends, Sara was many things—cherished for her spirit, her love, and the unique way she touched each life around her.

She is survived by her mother, Jean (Rick) Petersen, father Thomas (Cheryl) Ritchie, grandmother Louise Nystrom, sisters Jennifer (Lee) Zbytovsky and Andrea (Mike) Gray, nephews Tristan (LaNell) Zbytovsky and Cole (Emily) Zbytovsky, nieces Delaney and Mallory Gray, and great-niece Ellarah Zbytovsky.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Brandt and Josephine Ritchie, grandfathers Robert Sauter and Leroy Nystrom, uncle John Ritchie, and nephew Logan Zbytovsky.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at The Falls Weddings & Events in Saint Croix Falls, Wisconsin, at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring and remembering Sara.
