Sandra “Sandy” Marie (Kakko) Drinkwine, 77, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 30, 2024 after persevering through dementia. Sandy was a beloved mother and grandmother, a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, her friends and any stranger she came to meet. She was a faithful worshipper of Jesus, constantly praying for the salvation of friends and family and serving at church. She led a quiet life as a homemaker with some odd jobs along the way, and her smile and gentleness radiated the love of Jesus.
Sandy was born on January 3, 1947 in Duluth, MN to Matthew Kakko II and Jennie Marie (Granlund) Kakko. Sandy was the 3rd of 8 children and grew up in Oliver, WI. She spent most of her adult life in Superior, WI and moved to Blaine, MN in 2019 to be cared for by her daughter and family.
She joined her mom, dad, ex-husband, sister and 3 brothers in heaven. She is survived by daughter Sarah Schuety, her husband Matthew and their five children, Maddie, Anza, Gideon, Ari and Simeon; daughter Danielle Drevlow, her husband Jacob and their son Ezra; sister Shirley; sister Irene and brother Randy.
A Celebration of Life service and luncheon will be held July 25, 11am at Emmanuel Christian Center, 7777 University Ave, Spring Lake Park, MN. Come celebrate a life well-lived, and dress in color. Mom hated black, she would want to be celebrated with bright colors and flowers. Children welcome!
