A Woman of Faith
2 Timothy 4:7-8
Sandra Lynn Smith of St. Louis Park, MN, died at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, MN, on May 4, 2026, at the age of 65, after a battle with breast cancer.
Sandra was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to James and Darleen Bornemann. She spent most of her life living in Wisconsin, with her later years in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. She held several jobs throughout her life, including work as a dog groomer and housekeeper. Even while in hospice, these roles never left her, as she busied herself keeping her room in order and enjoying visits from therapy dogs.
She is survived by her children, Graydon and CaraLee Curley; her grandson, Jordison Curley; and her siblings, Mark Bornemann, her twin sister Susie Severson, and Steve Bornemann. She loved her children and grandchild deeply and spoke of them to anyone who would listen.
Sandra lived a life grounded in deep faith and, above all, placed her hope and trust in God. Her steadfast and unwavering faith, along with her joy and humor—even in the midst of trial—were an example to all who knew her. Her favorite Bible chapter was Romans 8.
Sandra enjoyed spending her time crocheting, listening to scriptural music—including Esther Mui—and fellowshipping with brethren. She greatly appreciated all those who prayed for her during her illness.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers of Our Lady of Peace Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Sandra during her final months.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day—and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
2 Timothy 4:7–8
