Sandy Woodbury

Sandra K. Woodbury, 77, of Shafer, MN, passed away on August 24, 2024 after a five-year battle with cancer.

Sandy was born on April 26, 1947 to Margaret and Quentin Johnson in St. Paul, MN. Sandy grew up in the St. Paul “midway area” with her parents, 2 brothers and sister. During her senior year of high school, she started a job at the St. Paul Companies (now Traveler’s Insurance) in the typing pool, launching a 40-year career culminating as a manager in the financial and professional services department. Sandy met Dan Woodbury in 1964 at Wilson High School in St. Paul, they married in 1966, and went on to have 2 children, Julie and Brian.

Sandy enjoyed spending her time with family and friends, gardening, playing piano, attending Drum Corps International events, volunteering with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, listening to music, and reading. In 2004, Sandy retired and decided to give rural life a try. For more than 20 years, Dan and Sandy both enjoyed farm life working together fixing fences, working fields, and even making hay – Dan drove the tractor and Sandy stacked the bales. Her greatest joy was spending time working with abused horses she fostered from the Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years Dan Woodbury of Shafer, MN, and her children Julie Woodbury (Taylor, WI), Brian Woodbury (White Bear Lake, MN), brother Jerry (Sally) Johnson (Otsego, MN), sister Janice Farnham (Weatherford, TX), and brother Danny (Denise) Johnson (Cottage Grove, MN), along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and family she adored.
