life story

Our Beloved Matriarch; Mother, Wife, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, & Friend.

Sandra had a loving and helping spirit and she loved the Lord. For many years, Sandra was a devoted member of Shiloh Temple International Ministries. She and Bishop Howell go way back. Sandra enjoyed helping others in their times of need. She had touched many hearts in this way. Sandra was very opinionated and had a fun wit about her. She also LOVED to read books. She enjoyed a mystery novel with a great crime plot, but she especially loved romance novels. She was a hopeless romantic deep down, she just refused to admit it. Sandra loved her kids, nieces, nephews, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She loved being involved and making memories. Sandra knew every minute spent with family, is what truly mattered most and she showed it. She is a special gem that the lord has called home. Sandra will always be loved and will never be forgotten.

About Sandra J. Norris

Sandra Jeanne Norris was born on August 2, 1942, to June and Guy Haskins in Rock Island, Illinois. She was the oldest sibling of her 3 brothers Mike, Terry, and Raymond Haskins.

Sandra earned her High School Equivalency Certificate from Minneapolis Public Schools on September 28, 1976.

Sandra's first marriage was to Roger Schmock. They had 6 kids together. Karen, Kathy, Tamara, Dennis, Donald, and Nikki. Sandra and Roger were together for 10 years before they divorced.

As time progressed, Sandra moved to South Minneapolis and lived in an apartment complex with her 6 kids. Next door to Sandra was George Norris. He was smitten with Sandra and wanted to make her his own, along with her 6 kids. It was truly a match made through God.

George and Sandra married on March 31, 1979. They remained married until George passed and went home to be with the lord in 2011. Sandra remained widowed and did not remarry.

During Sandra's life with George, they dedicated their lives to the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. They brought their nieces Eureka and Shanika up from Arkansas in 1995 and raised them as their own. After Sanda's daughter Nikki's passing in March 2000, Sandra and George both took on the responsibility of raising their grandkids Davonn, Quentin, and LeeVoice Jr.

Sandra loved us and did all she could to create memories with us. She was especially proud of utilizing easy-to-read "Dick and Jane" books to teach her great-granddaughter Arianna how to read at the age of 4. We've reminisced about that countless times. It is these actions that made Sandra who she was, a Gem.

Sandra's pride and joy was her first great-grandchild, Cameron. He called her "Nani" and George was "Papi". After Cameron's passing in 2003, Sandra was never the same. He touched her heart more than any of us could. Cameron was her "Sweet Little Man", and she loved him more than words could describe.

It is bittersweet, but they are all together again. "Nani, Papi, and Cameron."
