Ruth “Sylvia” Negaard, 97, of Pinewood, MN died Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Autumn Hills Assisted Living in Bemidji, MN.

She was born on July 19, 1925, in Traill County, ND, the daughter of Olaves and Signe (Bergstrom) Myra. She was raised in Holst Township, MN.

She married Oscar Negaard on August 7, 1948, and they made their home in Buzzle Township. Oscar passed away on November 2, 1976. Sylvia was independent, continued running the farm, raising beef and dairy cattle.

She was a member of the Osterdalen Church Ladies Aid, and of the Osterdalen Cemetery Association. She was an animal lover, and they were drawn to her gentle spirit, she had many, many cats on her farm. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, and was known for making amazing pickles. She was cared for in her later years by her niece Opal Moravec, later her great-nephew and his wife, Michael and Ellie Moravec.

She is survived by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Sylvia is the last of the Myra family, and her husband Oscar Negaard.
