About Rose

Rozanna (Rose) Marie Theisen (67), of Blackduck, MN, passed away on May 7th, 2022 in Fargo, ND surrounded by the love of her family.

Rose was born on March 3, 1955 to Jean Irene (Beckjordan) and Alfred Wesley Peasley in Mason City, IA. Rose lived in a number of places while she was growing up. She shared stories with her family of living in Juneau, Alaska and Van Nuys, California. When Rozanna was out 15 years old she hitch hiked from Mason City to Blackduck where she stayed and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Michael (Mike) Theisen. For someone who was always so worried about the bad things in the world she was also very brave! Mike and Rose were married on October 18th, 1972 and went on to have Tonya in April, 1973 and Warren in April, 1974.

Rose was a loving and loyal mother and wife through all of life’s difficulties. When Tonya and Warren were just babies the young family moved to a one room shack in Buyck, MN where they lived in a logging camp. They had no electricity or running water, and had to get their water from a flowing well a couple of miles down the road. Rose was very happy when they were able to move back into a real house again after that!

Rose, Mike, Tonya, and Warren moved around a lot in those early years, living in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wyoming. In 1980, when Rose was pregnant with Michele, she decided that she was not going to move around anymore and wanted to raise her children where there were more family and friends around to help when Mike was working over the road. They moved back to Blackduck had Michele, Adam, and Lucas.

Rose was in her element being a stay at home mom for as long as she was able. She took care of the children, raised a garden, cooked all of the meals homemade, and even made her own bread every week. Everyone in the family will tell you that the best part of bread making was that mom would always put some of the dough aside to make “dough dads” (fry bread) which were a family favorite with butter and sugar!

Rose’s faith in God was very important to her, and the most important thing for her as a parent was to share God’s love with her children. Rose wanted to be sure that they would all meet again in Heaven one day. Her children remember her praying with them to ask Jesus into their hearts, singing her favorite hymns, and bringing them to Sunday school. She did her very best to be an example on earth of God’s unconditional love for her family.

Rose was humble and kind. She was the first to point out other people’s talents, accomplishments, and beauty. She saw the best in people and tried to make other people feel good about themselves. She had so much empathy that would feel sad just thinking about someone else being sad. She was not afraid to say, “I’m sorry” and taught us that even adults can apologize to children. She never put herself on a pedestal.

Rose made a house a home. She made others feel loved. She listened. She was the person you called to share your good days with and our bad. Whether you had five minutes or half the day to talk, she would be there for you to listen, chat, offer advice, and try to help. People and relationships meant the world to her. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend and will be incredibly missed by so many people. Her loss will leave a hole in all of our hearts.

Rozanna was survived by her husband, Michael Theisen; children, Tonya (Paul) Anderson, Michele (Dustin) Crowson, Adam (Amanda) Theisen, and Lucas (Jenn) Theisen; her grandchildren, Michael Dexter, Dylan Dexter, Levi Dexter, Kyle Theisen, Jessica Theisen, Caden Crowson, Bella Crowson, Kirsten Theisen, and Alli Theisen; sisters, Sheila Callow, Sharon Peaslee, Deb Bracy, Dawn Peasley and Dwana Eslinger; honorary grandchildren, Mychelle Fobbe (Dexter) and Willa Patton; and godchildren Honey Theisen, Carrie (Pond) Lundy, and Brandon Pond.

Rozanna was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Peasley and Jean Carolus; son, Warren Theisen; granddaughter, Skyla Nesvig; and brother, Jerry Peasley.
