Ronald “Ron” “Uncle” “Papa” Orvis Hjelmeland, 75, passed away on May 31, 2023, in Hopkins, Minnesota. He was born on May 16, 1948, in Minneapolis to Ruth and Andrew Hjelmeland. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Abbie. Survived by his sister Carmen, brother Andrew, former wife Joan, daughters Ruth and Sarah, granddaughter Jilliana, and several nieces and nephews.

Ron graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1966 before attending St. Cloud State University and later serving in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at the Unites States Post Office in Hopkins, Minnesota for 35 years before his retirement.

Ron was kind to all he met. Throughout his life he enjoyed being active and loved to cook. He cherished his travels to Jamaica and Thailand. He loved spending time with his granddaughter.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 5-8pm at the American Legion Post 320, 10 12th Ave S, Hopkins, MN 55343.
