Rodrick W. DeWinter, 59, of Park Rapids, MN died Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the CHI St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids, MN.

Rick was born December 10, 1963 in Moline, IL, the son of Tom and Nancy DeWinter. They moved to Golden Valley, MN shortly after he was born. He grew up playing hockey and baseball with his brother Mike. They spent summers enjoying lake life on Duck Lake.

After graduating from Robbinsdale High School in 1982, Rick spent several years traveling the world and then returned to the Twin Cities area. He started his singing career then, first with a band and then moving to entertaining people with his karaoke shows. He moved to Park Rapids in the early 90’s and continued his entertainment career here, known by many as “Ricky D”. He always enjoyed a creative and entrepreneurial life and spent many years self-employed. He recently had enjoyed wood working at SWI.

Rick met and married the love of his life, Mindy. They shared nearly 24 years together and were blessed with two incredible daughters, Hannah and Sophie. Rick’s favorite activities included overlooking Long Lake from his seat on the porch, pontooning with his family and golfing with his buddies. He loved his family deeply and will be incredibly missed.

Rick is survived by his wife, Mindy DeWinter, daughters, Hannah and Sophie DeWinter, brother, Mike (Jill) DeWinter, mother-in-law, Cheryl (Brad) Akre, father-in-law, John (Jody) Peabody, several brother/sister-in-laws, aunts, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Thomas DeWinter, mother, Nancy DeWinter, and paternal and maternal grandparents.
