About Rodney

Rodney “Kritter” James Stevens, 43, of Rice Lake, MN died on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at his residence in Bagley, Minnesota.

Rodney was born on November 20, 1980 to Brenda Hill and Bruce Auginaush in Bagley, Minnesota. He attended Bagley Schools and the Circle of Life Schools, going on to obtain his High School Diploma. He resided in Rice Lake for most of his life. He worked as a Black Jack Dealer at the Casino.

Rodney loved fishing, berry picking, playing cards and working with Diamond Willow. He was a talented wood carver. Rod also loved taking walks and visiting with family. He would often walk over to his Uncle Gary and Aunt Celeste or his Uncle Bam and Aunt Barb just to chat. He had a fun sense of humor and could always make everyone laugh.

Rodney was on life support for 15 days in Fargo and had a near death experience where he went to a Pow Wow where all his loved ones who had passed away were dancing and his grandfather was playing the drum. After he came back to us, he had to go to many weeks of physical therapy and rehab to relearn many things. He never complained about his issues, he just worked hard to get better.

Rodney is survived by his mother, Brenda Stevens; his brother, Randy Stevens; his father, Bruce Auginaush; his other brothers, Bruce Auginaush, Jr., Brent Auginaush, Bradley Auginaush, Bryce Auginaush, Brody Auginaush, and Brendan Auginaush; his step-father, Alan Oppegard; his step siblings, Mike Bunker, Autumn Oppegard and Janelle Oppegard; his nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Daisy Auginaush and Bert and Lucy Stevens; his aunt Mona Stevens; his uncles, Robert Stevens and Kenny Auginaush; and his cousin Emily Stevens.
