February 26, 1951 – July 8, 2026
With deep sadness but hearts full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, the family of Robert Hudson announces his peaceful passing on July 8, 2026, at the age of 75.
A Foundation of Faith and Community
Born on February 26, 1951, he was adopted by his parents, Stanley and Luella Hudson. He was baptized into his faith at Butternut Lutheran Church, establishing roots that would carry him through a meaningful life. He grew up in the area, attending Lake Crystal Public School and proudly graduating with the Class of 1969.
He pursued his higher education at Southwest State University in Marshall, Minnesota, before finding his forever home in Mankato.
A Beautiful Love Story and Dedicated Career
In Mankato, he met and married the absolute love of his life, Vicky Kollmann, in 1972. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering commitment, just recently celebrating a remarkable milestone of 54 years of marriage this past April.
A man of dedication and strong work ethic, he gave his entire working years to a career at Honeymead (now CHS), serving as a skilled lab technician until his retirement.
His Greatest Joy: Family and Sports
Outside of work, his world revolved around his family and his passions. He was an avid, lifelong sports enthusiast and a fierce fan of all Minnesota sports teams. Whether it was cheering on his favorite local teams or following the thrill of horse racing, his enthusiasm was contagious. But his favorite games to watch were always the ones where his family was on the field. He was the ultimate fixture in the stands, loving any opportunity to watch his grandsons and granddaughters play sports. Which consisted of Football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, track and cross country.
Loved and Remembered
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Luella Hudson.
His legacy of love, devotion, and kindness lives on through his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky, his daughter, Heather, and her husband, Jason; and his son, Blake, and his wife, Kayla. He is also remembered with love by his grandchildren, Noah (wife Brookelyn), Max, Ella, and Josie; his two cherished great-grandchildren, Baker and Elsie; and his sister, Marlys, and her husband, Fred Hoops.
