About Bob

Robert “Bob” Kiefer, age 78 of Monticello MN, passed away on September 27, 2021.

Bob was born in Veblen, South Dakota to George (Pete) and Verna Kiefer on January 15, 1943. Bob developed his love of red machinery while working and growing up at his father’s implement dealership in Cayuga North Dakota. Bob attended Sargent Central High School, where he met the love of his life, Dawn Seavert. They were married on June 11, 1966. He joined ROTC while attending North Dakota State University. He received a master’s degree in Accounting from the University of North Dakota. Upon finishing college, the Army stationed Bob at the Pentagon.

When Bob completed his commitment to the military, the young couple moved to Brooklyn Center, Minnesota to raise their family of three active boys. During these years Bob attended and assisted at many of the boys’ sporting events. Bob’s job at NSP, where he worked for 37 years, paid the bills. He became active in the community through St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Brooklyn Center Jaycees. He gained many lifelong friendships while serving in these organizations.

Bob took his family on many road trips across the country, 25 states, 10 national parks and three amusement parks. Bob and Dawn loved to travel as a couple, taking several vacations to Europe, with many of those including stops in Germany to visit distant relatives. The joy of travel took the globetrotters to five continents, two oceans, three seas, and through one canal.

Bob and Dawn purchased a cabin in Perham, MN. Part of the joy of the cabin for Bob was all the time he got to spend with his friends and family. He particularly enjoyed his time on the lake, fishing and boating with his 9 grandchildren. Although Bob could not swim, he was an avid water skier into his 70’s.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Verna Kiefer and sister, Patrice Kiefer Peterson.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dawn Kiefer: sons Michael (Tracy) Kiefer, Paul (Terri) Kiefer and Ryan (Megan) Kiefer: brother, Randy Kiefer, and sisters Paulet (Richard) Rousseau and Pamela (Keith) Hoistad: Grandchildren Ian, Jason, Tyler (Duncan) Comer, Miranda, Ezra, Logan, Rhen, Treyton, and Jet.
