A loving husband and father

Robert Speck passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends, on Friday, November 1, 2024 at the age of 66. Robert had had an accident in October of 2022 that left him a quadriplegic and then this past August, he had been diagnosed with bone cancer.

Robert was born August 22, 1958 in Bethesda, Maryland to Jon and Elsie (Louise) Speck. He attended Fourth Baptist Christian School. He dropped out of school. He spent some time working in the Grand Canyon. He went on to get his GED before joining the U.S. Army in 1977. He married Lottie Mahler on December 5, 1987 in Mound, MN. They lived in Minnesota until October of 2001 when they moved to Wisconsin. Robert worked for Waste Management in MN. He also spent some time cooking at St. Bede Monsastery in Wisconsin. He loved to spend time grilling during the summer months. In the winter you would find him out shoveling snow - not just for our home but for the neighbors as well. He was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed spending time working on cars with his kids. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs.

We would like to give a huge thank you to the VA for all that they have done as well as to his in-home Nurse and his in-home Respiratory Therapist.

Robert is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lottie Speck; Stepson Charlie (Sarah) Mahler; Daughter Heather (Tony) Pommerening; Daughter Jessica Speck, Mother Elsie (Louise) Speck; Siblings: Jon (Lori) Speck, Barbara (John) Anderson, Martyn Speck; Grandchildren: Norah Mahler, Christine, Evelyn, Patrick, Lily and Elizabeth Pommerening. One great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his Father Jon Speck Sr., Sister-in-law Stacey (Marty) Speck, and his Grandparents.
