Robert James Anderson

Robert James Anderson, 74 passed away in his sleep at his home in St. Paul, MN on Tuesday May 25, 2021 from heart health issues.

Robert was born on January 19, 1947 in Mankato, MN to Leo Harlan Anderson and Aline (Ruege) Anderson.

Robert married Bonnie Unze, with whom he had four children and later separated.

He served in the US Army for 3 years, and served in the Vietnam conflict for one year. He was a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Robert was a jack-of-all trades; he spent most of his life working in sales, and even spent some time as a Polka dance instructor. Later in life, Robert worked for the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, where he found a calling helping other veterans regain a sense of purpose as they entered civilian life by providing resume and job training.

He is survived by his two brothers Ronald (Ji Yung) and James (Ann), step-sister Karen Timm, step-brother Gary Eichten (Joann), three half-siblings Kerri, Todd, and Wanda, four sons Bryan Anderson (Candace), Christopher Anderson (Melissa), David Anderson (Megan), and Joel Anderson, and six grandchildren ranging in age from 5 to 19 years.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard, and sister Joyce.

A memorial service will be held at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, MN at 10:30 am on Wednesday July 21, 2021. Memorial donations are suggested to the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans.
