Robert (Bob) Gary Rannow passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 16,2022.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor Eidem, and his sister Jeri Sullivan. He is survived by his former wife and caretaker, Margaret Rannow, and children - Julie Martin, Cathy Anderson, and Bill Rannow, and their spouses. He also was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren (all of whom brought out the best in him, with big laughs and smiles), as well as many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Bob was an active member of the Zurah Shriners for over 30 years. In fact, the Shrine Circus was a big favorite of his grandchildren. He lived in North Minneapolis most of his life, including attending North High School, as well as time in California. Bob was a carpenter by trade, having built or remodeled numerous homes in MN and CA. He loved cars and boating, regularly attending auto shows in the area, and belonged to the MN Street Rod Assoc for many years. He was also an avid collector of antiques.
Those that knew Bob would say that behind his sometimes gruff exterior was a man with a giant and generous heart. He would do anything for anyone, often on a moment’s notice. It is this generosity and care that will be remembered by those that knew him well.
A funeral is not planned, but there will be a memorial service in the spring for family and friends.
