Loving Father and Grandfather, Dedicated Son and Fun-loving Brother to 5

Robert “Bob” Anthony Ashenden entered into eternal rest peacefully at Carefree Living, Burnsville, MN, on July 23, 2025.

Bob is survived by his daughter Dana (Tyler) Smith; beloved Grandpa Bob to Riley; his brothers Tom (Beverly) Ashenden, John (Maureen Moran) Ashenden, Bill (Beverly) Ashenden and Dan (Mary) Ashenden; beloved Uncle Bob to Catherine (Joe) Bozokovich, Helen (Evan) Gremillion, Patricia, Burke (Ryka Seghal), Katie, Emily and Sean.

Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois, to James and Mary Jane (Hummel) Ashenden and grew up in the suburbs north of Chicago. After graduating from Loyola Academy and earning his B.S in Real Estate at Alliant University in San Diego, CA, Bob went on to earn his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in Chicago. Bob was a consultant at Arthur Anderson and later became a partner at Valuation Management Consultants, Inc.

Bob lived in Lincoln Park; later, he moved with Dana to Crystal Lake. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends, often putting people at ease with his contagious laugh and lightheartedness. Bob especially loved celebrating the holidays. Bob was a voracious reader and loved the beach and ocean - especially Torrey Pines Beach and Cardiff by the Sea, which he frequented while living in San Diego and vacationing. In his later years, Bob moved to Minnesota to be closer to Dana. Celebrating her wedding and spending time with Riley were the highlights of his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James “Jimmy” Ashenden, and his former wife (Dana’s mother), Georgann (Vondra) Ashenden

A private celebration of life will be held.
