life story
Out of our arms, but forever in our hearts
It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Rick F. Judy III, 42, of Shakopee, MN, passed away suddenly on June 29, 2022. Rick was born May 27, 1980 on Marine Corps Base Twentynine Palms, in Twentynine Palms, CA to his loving parents Richard and Gail. He lived in Burbank and Lancaster, California; Pine, Colorado; Osseo, Maple Grove, Eden Prairie, and most recently, Shakopee, Minnesota, across the span of his life.
Rick was a man of many interests and talents. He loved playing football in high school and shared a close bond with his sister Lauren over their mutual love for all things geeky and nerdy, especially his obsession with Star Wars. These interests continued into adulthood, and he was a proud "geek" and loved gaming. His most recent passion hobby involved proudly working on a scale model of Ecto 1; he took pleasure in creating models and showcasing his enjoyment of all things Ghostbusters. He loved classic rock music, but held a special place in his heart for Electric Light Orchestra.
As an adult he pursued higher education, graduating from Rasmussen College with an Associates degree in Network Administration. Prior to that, his love for cooking led him to attend The Culinary Institute of America, as well as enrolling in a Culinary Arts program at Johnson and Wales University. Rick was a chef at heart and loved to cook for his family every time he had a chance.
Rick met his wife and love, Libby Larson, in 2007, and the two eventually married in 2011. They welcomed their son, Collin Craig Judy, in 2013. Together, Rick and Libby were also the proud pet parents of several dogs, 2 rats, and multiple fish.
Of all the things Rick took pride in, being a father to Collin was his greatest joy and most fulfilling life role. He adored and cherished spending time with Collin, and was a family man to the core. Their favorite things to do together included playing computer games, swimming, boating, going for walks, bike/scooter rides, and the two of them shared a mutual love of riding Rick's motorcycle, "Val" together.
Rick leaves behind his wife Libby and son Collin. He was preceded in death by his sister Tara Lee-Ann Judy, and survived by his parents Richard F. Judy Jr. and Gail L. Judy. He is also survived by his sister, Lauren Tara Al Azzawi, her husband, Moe R. Al Azzawi, and their children Aidan, Ivy, and Noor, who adored their Uncle Ricky.
A small, private memorial was held for immediate family following his passing. A Celebration of Life is scheduled on September 11,2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Shakopee Community Center(1255 Fuller St., Shakopee, MN 55379).
