About Richard

Richard Lee Falk was born December 2, 1948 in Brainerd, MN to Harry and Arlene (Babcock) Falk. After graduating from Bemidji High School in 1967, he went to Fargo to register for the Army and left moments later for basic training much to the dismay of his mother.

He served in the Army from July 7, 1967 to February 9, 1970 and in that time, he was deployed to Thailand during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Army, he attended Bemidji State University where he obtained his first degree. He then worked at Steiger Tractor in the testing and engineering department where his job included his favorite task of trying to break the tractors. After leaving Steiger, he attended Moorhead State University where he obtained a degree in computer science after which he worked for the FAA as a radar technician until he retired in 2015.

On 8-8-88 he was united in marriage to Diane and instantly acquired his 3 bonus children then they later welcomed their son, Aric. They resided in Moorhead until 2015, at which time they built their current home on their 160-acre farm in rural Bemidji which has been in the family since 1967.

Richard enjoyed tinkering in the shop, hunting whitetail deer in his swamp, dark house fishing, and taking unplanned naps in his favorite recliner. He spent many hours outdoors and taught his kids and grandkids how to shoot a gun along with countless other skills. He was a very patient and caring man and was always willing to help his kids with their various car troubles. Possibly tied with Diane, his greatest love of all was deer hunting every fall with his family. His hunting crew will honor him by continuing this tradition.

Richard was taken from us suddenly, but passed peacefully while surrounded by his family on October 27, 2021.

Left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife Diane (Lee); 2 sons: Aric (Gabby) Falk of Emo, Ontario in Canada eh and Scott (Tabitha) Macziewski of Chandler, AZ; 2 daughters: Sara (Jared) Koch of Wausau, WI and Stacy (Jeff) Mynatt of Fenton, MI; 7 grandchildren: Rick and Tori Macziewski; Brayden Macziewski and Kylie and Makenna Koch; Natalie and Evan Mynatt. Also, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and a few lucky bucks in the woods.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Arlene, brother Larry, in-laws Harris and Dorothy Lee and sister-in-law Marilyn Bergeson.

We treasure all the time we had together even though cut short, for us there will be no other. He had an unwavering positive attitude and was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
