Richard Eugene Ness, 85, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Sanford Bagley Medical Center.

Richard was born on October 12, 1936 in Clearbrook, Minnesota to Mervyn and Hilma (Lindom) Ness. He graduated from Bagley High School 1954. From 1954 to 1957, Richard proudly served in the United States Navy.

Richard married Lois Ann Wickner on November 16, 1963. Together they made a home in St. Cloud, MN until Lois’ death in 2004, then Richard relocated back to Bagley.

Richard worked at St. Cloud State University for 32 years as a painter and was also the President of the Union (AFL-CIO) for many years. He was a member of the Bagley American Legion where he served as Commander, was on several committees, and was a proud member of the Color Guard. Richard also called Bingo Friday and Saturday at the legion for several years.

Richard was a loving and caring husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa who cherished time with his family and had the best lap for snuggles. His great smile, laugh, and sense of humor will never be forgotten

Richard is survived by his daughter, Heidi (John) Ness-Thill and daughter-in-law Angela Ness; grandchildren, Becky (John) Klein, Laura (Eric) LaValle, Paul (Kirstin) Kirchner; Kaci Ness, Nathan Ness, Hannah Ness, and Aaron Ness; great grandchildren, Greyson, Norah, Amelie, Margot, and Lyle; sister, Karen Jordan; aunts, Mavis and Ann; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mervyn and Hilma Ness; his wife, Lois Ness; and his sons, Paul Ness and Mark Ness.
