About Ray aka Ramon
Ray Lotz passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 90. Ray was born in St. Paul, grew up in the Langford Park area and graduated from Murray High School in 1950. Following graduation Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, primarily aboard the USS Kenneth Whiting, a seaplane tender, from 1951-1955. He was stationed in Japan at Yokosuka and later Iwakuni Naval Bases. Ray was employed by Curtis 1000 as a printing press operator for 32 years until his retirement in 1993. Ray loved to drive, so growing restless after retirement he worked for Enterprise Car Rental, delivering cars to customers. Ray’s last employment years were spent driving school bus charters for high school sports teams (St. Paul only as he didn't need a map!).
Ray loved to meet people and did so with a jovial laugh and a warm smile. His hobbies included wood carving, golf, bingo and bowling - with a 170 average at age 70. He also made rings from old silver coins, a skill he learned on the long trips at sea in the navy. Ray also spent time in his retirement caring for and helping with his many grandchildren and loved supporting them by attending their concerts and sporting events.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Doris Lotz, brother Thomas, sister Janet, infant sons Baby Boy and Daniel Lotz, stepson David Utech and grandson Joseph Huot. Ray is survived by his wife of the past 39 years, Sheila Tereau Lotz, daughter Lynn Mondragon, sons Michael (Sylvia) Lotz, Stephen (Theresa) Lotz, stepdaughter Denise (Marcus) Utech-Pratt, grandchildren Shawn and Dylan (Stephanie) Mondragon, Ruben and Isaac Lotz, Gibson Lotz, Amanda and Alex Utech, Carly Crowell, Zach Jenner, Kassandra (Christian) Erickson, great grandchildren Kiah and Carter Mondragon and former wife Kathleen Parenteau.
Ray will forever be remembered for his smile and a twinkle in his eye. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
