Randi Carol; RJ; Ran; Randi Panda; Randi Boo;

Randi Carol was the second daughter of Ray and Lauretta. She was the cutest little girl with the biggest smile ever. Always getting into trouble, didn’t like to be told “no”. Randi was a tom-boy. The first of us to get Dad to take her “training wheels” off her bike, the fastest runner, the best batter, everything physical Randi was good at. Even the best at hammering caps on the sidewalk. She had no fear. None. We were riding in the car, Dad driving, Mom in passenger seat; Dad had a friend with us in the back seat, when Randi, who always had to sit by the window, tells us that she knows how to unlock the car door now – see! And in a split second, Dad’s friend and I watched as she flew out the car door, onto the freshly tarred road! Dad stopped the car, ran and got Randi, dropped his friend off where he was going, and hauled Randi, Mom, and me to Bethesda Hospital. Dad went in with her; the doctor had to use a wire brush to get the tar and gravel out of Randi’s face so she wouldn’t be disfigured. It was a miracle that she ended up with only the smallest scar on her cheek. Randi loved music, she and I sang ourselves to sleep every night. Randi had the biggest heart ever. She cared so much. As a grown-up, Randi was involved in a battered women’s shelter, helping get the client away from her batterer. Randi was brave, fearless, and physically able. Randi worked at Unisys for 20-plus years and made many life-long friends there. The office staff at Unisys would always tell her that she was their favorite and did such a good job for them. After Unisys, Randi filled in one summer at a physical therapy clinic; she loved it and thought about being a physical therapist. That was not to be, but she did stay in health care. Randi then worked for TLC Home Health Care where she had several clients. One of which was an elderly couple where she did cleaning, laundry, cooked meals, helped them take their medicines properly, and saw that the lady was bathed and changed daily. They just loved Randi, and she grew to love them, too, caring for them for several years. Later, when our Mom got sick, Randi pitched in with the rest of us to take care of Mom. Again, Randi was always there to help.

Randi beat an alcohol problem, after which she was able to work lots of overtime, saving for a down-payment and then proudly bought her very own little house, all by herself. She beat her smoking habit several times, tried everything, gum, patches, hypnosis. And they all worked; until they didn’t.

Randi loved playing any kind of game, especially cards. She was competitive and very good. She also loved Crosswords and other word games. The last couple of years Randi was teaching her friends in the Senior building to play “500.”

Our sister Randi’s work is all done, and she is now pain-free and healthy up in heaven. And she’s playing cards with Dad and Mom, Laurie and Deb, Nancy, Brenda, and Tiger Kitty. Randi was a blessing to all.

We will miss her.
