Forever Remembered

Rachel Marie McGuire, 53, of Burnsville, MN, passed away peacefully, after her long battle with metastatic breast cancer, on April 22nd, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. A formal service called "Rachel's Going Away Party" will be held on her birthday, September 4th, 2025 - details to come.

She is survived by her three children Samantha, Rebecca (Max), and Scarlett. Surviving siblings include Mark (Brenda), Scott (Nadine), Cynthia (Blaine), and Jon. Followed by mother Clarice Honeycutt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Calvin Honeycutt. Surviving pets include her dog Minnie and cat Merlin. We would be remiss not to mention that she is also survived by over 100 funko pops.

Born in Anderson, Indiana on September 4th, 1971, Rachel was the youngest of six children born to Calvin and Clarice Honeycutt. She graduated as the salutatorian from Brandon Valley High School in 1990 and received her associates degree online from the University of Phoenix. Rachel served as an x-ray tech in the United States Army from 1990-1992. Rachel grew up in Brandon, SD and later moved to Fort Meade, SD where she worked at the VA Hospital. In 2010, Rachel moved to Burnsville, MN and started working at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. In 2020, Rachel was recognized and honored as a woman veteran through the I am not Invisible Project at the Minneapolis VA. The Federal Executive Board of Minnesota awarded her the Civil Servant of the Year Award in 2022 in recognition of her extraordinary service to her community and government. Rachel was extremely dedicated to her work and everyone she worked with became an extension of her family. She will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, goofiness, and determination.

Anyone who knew Rachel, knew just how quickly she made friends. She had an uncanny way of making anyone she came into contact with feel special and loved. Know that this love will never go away. It will surround us forever in our memories of her. Most importantly, Rachel prided herself in raising her three daughters and her love and laughter will forever live on in them. She modeled what it is to be truly selfless, loving, generous, brave, intelligent, and kind. Rachel, you will be forever loved and forever missed.

"She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines. She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn't beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul. She is beautiful." - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Cheers to you, Rachel!

In lieu of sending flowers, we encourage you to plant pink tulips in her memory.
